This was his second enlistment having previously served for five years in Company E, 3rd Cavalry. He joined Company C at Fort Abraham Lincoln on 21 October 1875. Was killed with Custer’s column. Listed as JAMES HATHERSALL on the battle monument. Final Statement of James Hathersall signed by Captain Henry Jackson, Commanding Company, at Fort Abraham Lincoln on 9 October 1876.
